Coming to Brighter Prospective Homes

To ensure a cooperative and peaceful environment, Brighter Prospective individuals must meet the following admissions criteria:

• Under current psychiatric care where an applicant is determined to have a level of stability suitable for the community.
• Ability to attend to all activities of daily living, including personal hygiene.
• Ability to function in a small social community.
• Reasonable physical health.
• Absence of actively addictive behavior.
• Absence of violent or suicidal behavior.
• No history of criminal sexual misconduct
• Must be age 18 and older.

In addition, to complete the process, we require:

• Completed Application for Admission Form
• Current and complete psychiatric history
• Current physical exam, TB test and tetanus shot (within 5 years)

Brighter Prospective ensures that all individuals are evaluated by consistent standards and in an unbiased review process; we screen and interview each applicant following the review of all attainable previous records and referral information.
The admissions process is geared toward admitting people who will benefit from Brighter Prospective home environment and willingly participate in its therapeutic environment.

Staying At Brighter Prospective

​Brighter Prospective is a voluntary residential program designed to meet the needs of individuals with intellectual disabilities seeking services and facing challenges. Brighter Prospective wants individuals to feel at home, to be engaged in the household, and to actively participate in the management of the household.  This is accomplished when individuals assist with selection, purchase, and preparation of meals; when individuals participate in the selection of recreational outings and internal activities; and when individuals customize their personal living space.
Additionally, Brighter Prospective homes seeks to have individuals actively involved in personal management through participation in all aspects of daily living; actively planning and scheduling personal day-time activities; and management of medical and mental health services with community providers.  Brighter Prospective provides transportation for all residents, whether for social outings or personal activities. 
Brighter Prospective is committed to each individual fulfilling his or her dream, whether that dream is to call Brighter Prospective a permanent home or a steppingstone to another setting.  Brighter Prospective is committed to each individual’s personal fulfillment and independence.

Transitioning

Individuals transitioning to another level of care or opportunity, Brighter Prospective will provide each individual of the follow-up treatment recommendations.  When appropriate, Brighter Prospective will assist with arranging follow-up services in the community and collaborating with the new providers. Brighter Prospective will actively work with the individual and family to make the transition as seamless as possible. As always, Brighter Prospective hopes that each individuals finds success when managing the challenges of intellectual disabilities whether that success occurs at Brighter Prospective homes or elsewhere.
We may terminate services with a particular individual due to failure to follow rules and regulations or his/her actions are unsafe in our programs. Brighter Prospective is a facility that encourages and promotes the care and growth of each individual equally. Therefore, if it is determined that the behavior of any resident impedes or negatively impacts other individuals, or is disruptive beyond reasonable circumstances, an involuntary discharge may be in order. In such situations, Brighter Prospective will offer the same level of follow-up coordination and assistance to the individual and family as mentioned above.
